"Simply one of the most exciting and vibrant young bands to have emerged onto the music scene in recent years..." - Swanage Folk Festival
The Maerlock is at the forefront of a new generation of contemporary traditional music. Inventively juxtaposing influences from jazz, latin, funk and other world musics with songs and tunes of the British Isles, the revolutionary and inimitable sound of The Maerlock is thrust into your ear-holes by Salma Alam (vocals/flute), Catriona Price (fiddle/vocals), Paul-Isaac Franks (guitar), Olly Hamilton (piano) and Toby Kearney (percussion). The band’s long-anticipated debut album ‘Sofa’ is out now on Fellside Recordings.
Based in Manchester, The Maerlock regularly play festivals, concerts, and other live music events - including ceilidhs with their jazz-folk crossover project The Maerlock Big Band).
