Welcome to the official website of The Maerlock

"Sensational... Guaranteed crowd pleasers!" - John Kirkpatrick, 2006

Featuring five of the country's top young musicians, The Maerlock present a fresh take on the traditional tunes and songs of the British Isles as well as repertoire drawn from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Showcasing a 5-piece line-up of fiddle, flute/vocals, piano, guitar and percussion, the band has forged for itself a unique sound characterised by driving rhythms and adventurous harmonies. Together they combine wide-ranging influences and experiences to create the original delivery and sound that folk has been waiting for.

Based in Manchester, The Maerlock regularly play festivals, concerts, and other live music events - including ceilidhs with their jazz-folk crossover project The Maerlock Big Band).

Previous appearances include:

Towersey Village Festival - Swanage Folk Festival - RNCM - Celtic Connections - Middlewich Festival - Manchester International Festival - sharing the bill with Blazin’ Fiddles at The Met Arts Centre (Bury) and Jim Moray at the RNCM
